Talismans
Back in 1994 my wife gave me a buddha amulet she bought at Phsar Thmei, which I've worn ever since. A Buddha of black wood in a silver setting.
In early 1995 I was traveling National Route 4 regularly. It wasn't particularly dangerous, but there was some KR presence and banditry on that road, so my Khmer maid advised me to have the amulet blessed to help protect me in my travels, "especially against bullets," she added. Such was not an uncommon practice in Cambodia at the time, often used by soldiers to try to ward off harm, (magical tattoos as well.) Figuring that at worst having the amulet blessed couldn't hurt, and rather interested in the potential cultural experience, I spent a day with my Khmer teacher learning the language and gestures necessary to go to the pagoda and ask for my buddha to be blessed. The following week I went up to Wat Leu in Sihanoukville, where I first talked to an aja (a lay assistant), who took me to the head monk, Ok Om (now deceased.) I explained myself in the couple of sentences I learned and he agreed to help me.
We sat in the vihear, both on the floor, facing each other, the amulet lay between us. It was about a 30 minute affair of the old monk praying and chanting and sprinkling water on me and the buddha. I put my buddha back around my neck, there was a bit more sprinkling and conclusive sounding chanting, and we were done.
The aja helped me up, my legs asleep from sitting cross-legged for 30 minutes. The old monk stood and turned toward the door, gesturing for me to follow. We went outside and sat on a rock under a tree where he told me a story and gave some advice, a young monk helping translate for us.
He began that such amulets can help alleviate fear and give one courage, and even provide protection, but that they must not be played with. Then he told me the story of a Khmer army officer who had bought a buddha amulet not unlike mine. The officer brought it to the pagoda to be blessed to protect him from bullets. Afterward, back in the field, he decided to test it. He took his amulet and hung it from a tree, pulled his sidearm and squeezed off several shots at it. Upon examination he found the amulet to be completely unscathed and the tree barely scratched by his bullets. So he hung the buddha back around his neck, turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the chest, dying on the spot. (In fact I had read the same story in the newspaper around that time.)
The old monk warned me again that such things were serious business and not to be tested - that maybe it only works once, or maybe you needed to have faith which testing betrayed, that we could not fully understand the ways of the gods, but above all, do not test it, be careful when I traveled the road, be generous with the soldiers I met, even KR, don't travel alone or after dark, and to have faith. I took all of his advice, save having faith, which is not a matter of choice. And I've never been shot, touch buddha.

tvam ca rudra maha-baho moha-sastrani karaya
O mighty-armed Siva, please "write books filled with lies", and thus bewilder the people.
atathyani vitathyani darsayasva maha-bhuja
prakasam kuru catmanam aprakasam ca mam kuru
O mighty-armed one, please "preach a collection of lies". Place yourself in the forefront,and conceal Me.
Sample 3 - Shiva tells his "wife Parvati",as under
mayavadam asac-chastram pracchannah baudham ucyate
mayaiva kalpitam devi kalau brahmana-rupina
O Goddess, in the age of Kali I shall "descend in the form of a brahmana" to spread this "Mayavada philosophy", which is actually "covered Buddhism". (Padma Purana)

NOTE - SEETA'S "UPPER FRINGE SARI" (wHICH COVERS HER BREASTS) IS "UPHEAVED ON TO RAVANA".RAVANA LOVED SEETA'S BREASTS - AS WE READ IN THE ARANYA KANDAM BEFORE.
तस्याः परम कल्याण्याः ताम्राणि सुरभीणि च |

Reddish and scented lotus-petals adorning that highly auspicious Seetha have slithered, but again upheaved by air they are bestrewn on Ravana. [3-52-16]
NOTE - WHILE RAVANA IS BANGING SEETA - THE PETALS THAT SEETA WORE ARE NOW ON RAVANA ! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN ? HOW CAN THE AIR PLACE THE PETALS AND THE UPPER SAREE OF SEETA ON RAVANA ? IT AIN'T MAGIC ! IT IS SIMPLE SEX ON THE LAP !
तस्याः कौशेयम् उद्धूतम् आकाशे कनक प्रभम् |
बभौ च आदित्य रागेण ताम्रम् अभ्रम् इव आतपे || ३-५२-१७
Upper fringe of Seetha's silk sari with golden glitter is upheaved in the sky, and with the reddish hue of sun in red heat of midday it beamed forth like a reddish cloud. [3-52-17]
NOTE - THIS VERSE MEANS THAT RAVANA "REMOVED" SEETA MAIYA'S SAREE AND SHE WAS "STARK NAKED".A reddish cloud is acceptable either in morning or in evening but not in midday since it is a bad omen. A BAD OMEN FOR SEETA MAIYA

आजानुलम्बिबाहुश्च महास्कन्धः प्रतापवान् |
लक्ष्मणानुचरो रामः पृथिवीमन्वपालयत् || ६-१२८-९७
That Rama, having his long arms reaching down his knees, having a broad chest and glorious, ruled this earth with Lakshmana as his companion.
No humans has arms reaching to the knees ! Is Rama an Ape ?
Rama ruled for 10000 years with Lakshmana – as HIS COMPANION ? What about Seeta Maiya ? What do have here ? A Gay Monkey !
Rama spent 12 years with Lakshmana and Apes, with no sex with a woman – so he became Gay –so what – it is all evolution !
As per Ramayana – Rama ruled happily ever after for 1000 years, with Lakshmana by his side (not Seeta) – it is all the Gay Thing (although Uttarakandam says that Rama and Seeta made merry for 10000 years – as miya bibi – but that was to neuter the Gay Theory of the Valmiki Ramayana)

“I, wanting for an honour, have done this particular act, which ought to be done by a man, in killing Ravana and thus wiping away the insult meted out to me.”

अगस्त्येन दुराधर्षा मुनिना दक्षिणेव दिक् || ६-११५-१४
“You have been won by me, whose mind stands purified by asceticism as the southern quarter, which was difficult to be approached by the world of mortals, was conquered by the Sage Agastya.”
गतोऽस्म्यन्तममर्षस्य धर्षणा संप्रमार्जिता |
अवमानश्च शत्रश्च युगपन्निहतौ मया || ६-११५-३
“I have come to the end of my indignation and my outrage has been completely requited as also the contempt against the enemy have been wiped out, all at once, by me.”
अद्य मे पौरुषं दृष्टमद्य मे सफलः श्रमः |
अद्य तीर्णप्रतिज्ञोऽहं प्रभवाम्यद्य चात्मनः || ६-११५-४
“Now, my manly strength has been seen by all. Today, my toil has borne fruit. Now, I have fulfilled my promise. Today, I am the master of myself.”

It is said that if Ravana touched any woman with intent of lust, he would die
Let us 1st prove that the Ravana touched Seeta with intent of lust.He described Seeta's breats and nipples etc. - but that is passe,as that is just vocabulary
There is specific reference in the Ramayana that RAVANA TOUCHED SITA MAIYA WITH INTENT OF LUST

Ravana who is "infatuated with lust" picked her up, which lady is disinclined for any kind of sensuality and who is verily writhing like the wife of King Cobra, and then he surged skyward and flew off with her in his air-chariot. [3-49-22]
ताम् अकामाम् स काम आर्तः पन्नग इन्द्र वधूम् इव |
विवेष्टमानाम् आदाय उत्पपात अथ रावणः || ३-४९-२२
Then people say that Ravana DID NOT TOUCH THE BODY OF SEETA MAIYA ! Lies
This is proof that Ravana touched her body,waist and naked thighs

वामेन सीताम् पद्माक्षीम् मूर्धजेषु करेण सः |
ऊर्वोः तु दक्षिणेन एव परिजग्राह पाणिना || ३-४९-१७
He that Ravana grabbed the lotus-eyed Seetha on lifting her up with his left hand at her plait of hair at nape, and with his right hand at her thighs. [3-49-17]
ततः ताम् परुषैः वाक्यैः अभितर्ज्य महास्वनः |
अंकेन आदाय वैदेहीम् रथम् आरोपयत् तदा || ३-४९-२०
Then he whose voice is strident that Ravana lifted her up by her waist and got Vaidehi up on the air-chariot intimidating her with bitter words. [3-49-20]
