Death of Sihanouk: Day 4, Mourners
October 18, Day 4 since the death of King Father Sihanouk. Mourning continues at the Royal Palace. Red kneeling rugs and several large incense urns line the sidewalk opposite the Pavilion. The air is constantly thick with incense smoke. People stream in and out of the area. There are never less than several hundred people present throughout the day and into the evening. Several thousand around sunset. The atmosphere is somber and respectful. Some groups hand out free drinking water and snacks to mourners and police.
